Friday fun: 1958 Newsreel: Army's Explorer satellite is launched
Today (Sept. 9) is my 53rd birthday and being a space geek I know that NASA also turns 53 later this year so I thought it would be neat to post the newsreel below that features the launch of the Explorer 1 satellite:
According to this Wikipedia article NASA officially became operational on October 1 of 1958, so I guess we have a few more weeks to prepare for the party. Any thoughts on how to celebrate NASA's 53rd?
By the way, thanks to HistoryReDefined for posting this video on Youtube!
Currently this blog is serving as a journal of my efforts to learn web development, and other necessary skills as I move forward with a new career path.
I am also hoping this blog will also serve as a means for me to meet others who are currently working in web development or are pursuing a similar career path.
Keep an eye on my other blogs where I post about astronomy (on two blogs no less), retro computing, and even urban spelunking.
And please feel free to comment if wish. Everything except spam, troll bait, and profanity laced rantings will be approved. You can also send me an email by clicking "here"
I am just a geek living the geek life. I am in the process of retooling my career and I am looking forward to the future.
I am interested in meeting others who have similar interests as I do, so feel free to contact me.
